Tameside Hospital – HSDU Infrastructure Upgrade

The Challenge

Tameside Hospital required a critical upgrade to electrical infrastructure within the Hospital Sterile Services Department (HSDU), supporting essential sterilisation processes.

The works were undertaken within a live hospital environment, where continuity of service was critical. The project required precise sequencing, close coordination with estates teams, and strict adherence to safety and compliance standards.

Project Goals

  • Upgrade ageing electrical infrastructure to improve resilience and capacity

  • Maintain uninterrupted sterilisation services throughout the works

  • Deliver compliant installations aligned with NHS and industry standards

  • Future-proof the system to support ongoing operational demands

The Result

AC Group delivered a modernised electrical infrastructure, including new low-voltage distribution systems and upgraded containment.

All works were carefully sequenced to ensure no disruption to sterilisation services, maintaining full operational continuity throughout. The upgraded system now provides improved reliability, safety, and long-term capacity for critical hospital functions.
