Trafford Hospital – Staff Accommodation
The Challenge
Theatre staff working within Theatres 12 and 14 required a dedicated accommodation and welfare space to allow meaningful rest between procedures. Existing facilities were limited and did not adequately support staff wellbeing in a high-pressure clinical environment. The challenge was to create a comfortable, functional space within a live hospital setting, delivering modern welfare facilities while coordinating works around ongoing theatre operations and strict infection control requirements.
Project Goals
The Result
The project successfully delivered a new staff accommodation and welfare area serving Theatre 12 and Theatre 14. The works included upgraded lighting and power installations, creating a bright, comfortable, and practical environment for staff use. A new kitchenette welfare area was installed, providing essential facilities for rest breaks during demanding theatre schedules.
The completed space now offers theatre staff a dedicated area to decompress and recharge between procedures, directly supporting staff wellbeing and operational efficiency. The upgrade demonstrates Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust’s continued commitment to staff welfare, while ensuring the works were delivered safely, compliantly, and seamlessly within a live healthcare environment.
